Avatar: The Way Of The Water

Get ready to return to the visually stunning planet of Pandora in James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way Of  Water

The next chapter in the Avatar franchise is officially titled Avatar: The Way Of Water. The long-gestating sequel has been a very long time in coming. But with its December 2022 release date looming large on the horizon; 20th Century Studios has bitten the bullet and unveiled the very first teaser trailer at CinemaCon 2022. And by all accounts, it’s amazing!

TEASER TEASING!

Sadly, the teaser was shown behind closed doors and details about what transpires are sparse. All we know is that it re-establishes Pandora, with much of the movie taking place in the planet’s oceans; and with humans and the Na’vi living in peace until a threat emerges. The footage has been described as breathtaking. And according to multiple sources, the visual effects are like nothing we have ever seen before. Especially in 3D. And thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long for our first look. We have it on good authority that the teaser will be playing exclusively in cinemas before Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness. So if you have tickets booked for Marvel’s tantalizing sequel, you’re in for a real treat.

RE-RELEASE

But the fun doesn’t end there, because it has been announced that the original Avatar will be returning to theatres for a limited time this September. The global re-release will see Avatar hit the screen on September 23rd, 2022, and will serve as the perfect primer for the long-awaited sequel. First released in 2009, the movie went on to be a global phenomenon and became the highest-grossing film of all time. Until Avengers: Endgame arrived to claim the throne, of course. But a recent re-release in China helped James Cameron’s masterwork to reclaim its throne. And now, it sits at the pinnacle – waiting for the next challenger to try its hand. Can the sequel dethrone its predecessor? Only time will tell.
