The Hot Toys Boba Fett is an amazing figure, but it could have been the ultimate Boba Fett figure if it had included a changeable head sculpt.
The iconic bounty hunter is getting another new Hot Toys figure from The Book of Boba Fett! But is this latest version of the legendary bounty hunter worthy of a place in your Fett collection? Let’s find out.
THE BOX AND ACCESSORIES
This is your usual Star Wars collectibles box. A black box with a promotional picture of the figure and the Star Wars logo. For The Book of Boba Fett, there is a yellow-orange colored strip.
This figure comes with plenty of accessories. But the one thing missing that would have made it perfect is the headsculpt. I am still shocked they didn’t include the healed Boba Fett headsculpt. Especially since they made one for the Quarter Scale figure so they just had to adjust it to the sixth scale. We are not talking about a character who always keeps his helmet, Boba spends most of the series without his helmet. That’s annoying Hot Toys didn’t include the most important thing!
DISPLAY BASE
The display base is the usual sandy footprints display base. There is nothing more to say about this base, we’ve gotten it so many times. In terms of hands, he has eight hands. They have reworked the texture of the gloves for this one. There are two open hands, two semi-open hands, two hands to hold the weapons, and two hands to hold the Gaffi stick.
Then, he has his classic EE-3 carbine rifle. It’s the same one that came with the Boba Fett (repaint armor) except they repainted it, giving the brown handle a more vibrant paint job. He also has his blaster pistol, it has been repainted as well. Finally, he has his Gaffi stick. The sculpt is the same as the Boba 2-pack with a new paint job that aligns with how it looks in his standalone series. The Gaffi stick can be attached to the back of the figure thanks to this handle. Like the repainted armor, you can add a flamethrower effect and a grappling hook to the gauntlets. They are the same accessories.
The jetpack got a new paint job too. It is different from the usual Boba Fett paint job. This new paint job fits better with this look. I like the blue here. As usual, it works with magnets but they also added extra holes to hold it to the figure. There is no rocket thruster effect for this one, simply the jetpack thruster effect.
THE FIGURE
This Boba Fett figure isn’t a repaint of the repainted armor from The Mandalorian. This is a brand-new figure. New outfit and retooled armor pieces. For me, this is the best Boba Fett look. You can see this armor is not a quick paint job to hide the damage. He took the time to rework it and make it anew. The brown of the boots and the belt add a nice contrast to the black of the outfit. It’s also a good fit with the green, yellow, and red of the armor. This is an imposing look. The boots are two separate pieces which means you have foot articulation. And the leather part is plastic so you don’t have to worry about that.
The pants have some details on them and a pocket. These are not simply black Tusken Raiders pants anymore. The belt uses a mix of pleather and plastic. The brown is quite bright so it stands out in the middle of the black outfit. The blaster can be inserted in the holster. But it’s not as easy as the previous version, you have to push it a little to insert it.
The armor pieces have a different shade of color from the repainted armor. These are newly sculpted pieces of armor. You can no longer see the damage under the paint, these are smooth pieces of armor. There are some battle scratches but it’s not too much, just a little bit to tell you that he has used his armor since he fixed it. The helmet is also brand new, not just in terms of colors but in terms of sculpt. This one is thinner than the previous helmets. Despite having no headsculpt, you can still remove the helmet and see that Hot Toys actually sculpted the inside. It’s a great work!
