The further adventures of Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson will debut on Disney Plus this summer
With The Mandalorian’s limited eight-week run coming to an end fans have been left with a gaping hole in their Disney Plus programming. Of course, season two of the tentpole series is heading our way faster than the Razor Crest at lightspeed, but that will come as little comfort for those lonely nights in.
Marvel Studios to the rescue.
Aside from the incredible Star Wars content heading our way, Disney+ is also home to a wealth of Marvel shows which will soon be arriving to fill the void – and leading the charge is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Despite production being well underway, an official release date had been somewhat of a mystery, and with WandaVision now slated for release in the fall, fans were beginning to wonder where the further adventures of Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson will fit in.
Thankfully, Deadline has the answer. In a new report, aside from confirming that actor Noah Mills (The Enemy Within) would be joining the cast in an undisclosed role, the outlet also confirmed that the series is expected to premiere this AUGUST. This is contrary to initial reports that suggested the series would arrive late in 2020. As is stands, the climax of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now expected to lead directly into the launch of WandaVision which will leave fans little downtime between shows.
Plot details for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are being kept under lock and key with security tighter than Jarvis’ most stringent protocols, but we do know that the character of John Walker, A.K.A. Super-Patriot (Wyatt Russell) will be making an appearance. Recently, set pics have emerged which reveal Russell in full costume and wielding Captain America’s iconic shield. Which is bizarre owing to the fact that Steve Rogers had bestowed the shield upon Sam Wilson in the climax of Avengers Endgame.
Until more details emerge – fans will continue to dream about what joys the series will bring, but I have a feeling this is going to be an incredible roller-coaster ride of Marvel awesomeness.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier starring Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Bruhl, and Wyatt Russell will be emerging from a Doctor Strange portal in August 2020.
