John Wick 4 Adds A Martial Arts Legend To The Cast!

Donnie Yen reportedly signs on to aid Keanu Reeves‘ dog-loving assassin in John Wick 4!

If one actor performing terrific martial arts moves in the ‘John Wick‘ universe isn’t enough, then how about getting one of the biggest stars to join in? According to Deadline, martial arts legend Donnie Yen has signed on to appear in the upcoming ‘John Wick Chapter 4’. Yen’s character has been described as an old friend of Wick’s who ‘shares his same history and many of the same enemies’.

CHAD STAHELSKI SHARES HIS EXCITEMENT!

The director of the upcoming fourth adventure for Keanu Reeves’ dog-loving killing machine, Chad Stahelski couldn’t hide his excitement in adding such a legend to his cast for the film:

“We are very lucky to have Donnie Yen join the franchise. I am looking forward to working with him in this exciting new role.”

Producer Basil Iwanyk echoed Stahelski’s words, adding:

“Donnie Yen will bring a vibrant and powerful energy to the franchise. We were determined to bring him on board to John Wick 4 and are thrilled for the opportunity to have such a major talent to collaborate with Keanu.”

ANOTHER NEW CAST MEMBER SIGNS ON!

Also joining the cast for the new film is Rina Sawayama, the Japanese-British pop superstar singer. Stahelski gushed about adding her to the continuing franchise:

“I’m so glad to have Rina on board to make her feature film debut in John Wick: Chapter 4. She’s an incredible talent who’ll bring so much to the film.”

JOHN WICK 5 NOT COMING?

Nothing more has been said about the fifth film in the franchise. The original plan was for ‘John Wick 4 & 5‘ to film back to back, ready for release a year apart. But recently, it has been disclosed that Lionsgate is only making the fourth film. No further details have emerged as to exactly why the fifth film has been shelved by the studio or if it will be made at all. Covid has possibly played a part in the decision not to proceed with a back-to-back filming schedule. Or Lionsgate could be waiting to see how the fourth film performs. Either way, we will keep you updated if anything changes.
