Pugh will play a spy on the same level as Romanoff, likely her moral opposite.
Captain Marvel is currently enjoying a fantastic run at the box office, proving once again that movies with an awesome heroine at the helm kick just as much butt as movies with the classic hero to cheer for. With Captain Marvel‘s booming success it’s clear that people are totally ready for a Black Widow movie, especially considering that she’s a character we’ve grown to love over the years.
While news of films past Avengers: Endgame are on the hush-hush more information about the cast for the Black Widow film is arriving and now another actress appears to be joining Scarlett Johansson in the highly-anticipated Marvel flick next summer. Florence Pugh, who is just coming off of her starring role in the critically-acclaimed film, Fighting With My Family, is expected to play the “moral opposite” of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow.
While this casting means that it’s very likely we won’t see Emma Watson play a role in the film (considering that Florence Pugh is an English actress) this is very exciting news indeed. Black Widow is such an amazing character and I cannot wait to continue sharing more news of the film’s production with you all.
I can’t wait to see this movie! 🙂
With Cate Shortland (Lore) directing from a script by Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel), the film is slated to kick off production in London this June.
